On 17 June 2026, Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) started printing a redesigned electricity bill. The change came from the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) and rolled out first through MEPCO, LESCO, and GEPCO, with IESCO and the remaining DISCOs following in the weeks after. The old layout packed readings, taxes, and surcharges into one crowded grid. The new one groups the same data into six clear areas, so you can find your payable amount and due date at a glance.

What changed on the new bill
Three things stand out. The total payable amount is printed larger and higher on the page, the due date is highlighted to help you avoid the late payment surcharge, and a QR code now appears for quick digital access. MEPCO stays a distribution company — it supplies power across 13 districts of South Punjab and bills through PITC; it does not generate electricity. Your 14-digit reference number and 10-digit consumer ID are unchanged, so online bill check works exactly as before.
The 6 sections of your MEPCO bill
1. Consumer and connection details
Your name, address, 14-digit reference number, consumer ID, tariff category (for example, A-1 domestic), and sanctioned load. This block confirms the bill belongs to your connection.
2. Meter reading and units consumed
Previous reading, present reading, billing month, and total units (kWh) used. Subtract the two readings yourself to verify the units — this is where most estimated-reading errors appear.
3. Charges and tariff breakdown
The cost of the electricity itself: energy charge (units × slab rate), Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA), the FC and TR surcharges, quarterly tariff adjustment (QTA), and fixed charges such as meter rent. Your protected or non-protected slab is applied here.
4. Taxes and government levies
Sales tax (GST) at 17%, provincial electricity duty, and income tax where it applies. MEPCO collects these on the government’s behalf and does not set the rates. The Rs 35 PTV licence fee has now been removed from bills.
5. Total payable and due dates
The amount due within the due date, the higher amount after it (which includes the late payment surcharge), the bill issue date, and the due date. Pay on or before the due date to skip the surcharge.
6. Payment history, QR code, and notices
Your last 12 months of payment status, the scannable QR code, and short notices on peak hours and complaints. Scan the QR code to open your billing details on your phone.
